Finally some progress you can see! They have the base of the deck up and will finish it tomorrow!
Part of the shingles are up and they put the facia up all around.
October 18, 2009
A shot of Dad stringing wire in the new and old crawlspaces. We spent the whole day yesterday doing that. We found that our knees and backs are definately not as young as they used to be.
He threatened me after I took this shot... :)
Most of what they have done the last couple days you can't see... they did get the chimney framed in and the shingles are in packages on the roof... Now if they will just break open those packages before it rains and snows again (Tues or Wed). When they were putting the shingles up on the roof Friday it was early morning and the frost was thick on the roof and one of the workers slid all the way to the very edge of the roof stopping just barely short of falling off! That would not be a good thing.
More fun to follow...

Wel it is starting to dry out a little bit ... Pray for more dry weather for a while. They got most of the windows in today and some of the facia. they cut the hole the wrong size for the top window
in the entry so just pretend that the hole is half that wide and you can picture what it will look like. They also got all the roof sheeting done and are putting on the shingles tomorrow I think.
Stay tuned...

10-10-09 winter wonderland/ no roof!
we woke up to this today...it is only 2 degrees this morning and feels like december
we got another 5 -6 inches of snow
icicles on the side of the garage
hope those tarps hold out until it warms enough to get the roof on. If it warms enough.

a view of the new roof from the back, before the decking was applied
Now prepare yourself for a little change in the looks of the house....
quite the difference huh? We are getting excited. it is startint to look like we hoped it would.
Thought I would just remind you all of just how different it looks!!! Can I just say WOW!
just another angle from the front...notice where the tree in the front seems to have moved! It is not so centered anymore to the front of the house. Leave us a comment or an email and let us know what you think! We are about 1/2 way done. Any and all prayers you would like to offer in support of our sanity would be appreciated! :)
Stay tuned.. :-)

this is what we got yesterday!! 10-5-09
I didn't get any pictures this morning before work, but this is what we came home to. We got about 11 inches of very wet snow Sunday and Sunday night (which knocked out the power for most of the day and part of the night Sunday...we could see our breath in the garage. Fun times!!) We now live in quite a mud bog...I don't dare drive the car out of the driveway because the truck almost got stuck in the mud and we put it in 4 wheel drive!

Sorry but I posted these pictures backwards as far as the time line of events... oh well a few days makes no difference, right? The roof trusses finally arrived yesterday...
We are supposed to get snow and rain starting tomorrow ( Monday) I hope they get these placed before all the floors inside are ruined...
They covered the floor joists in the main room and finished all the framing... No more holes for me to fall in :-)
The gable int he front of the house is gone and the roof is off. we have just tarps right now
Pray for good weather :)
Pray for good weather :)
The back view...the concrete has been poured for the new hot tub and the foundation posts foir the deck and the gravel under the deck is done.
they removed the old carpet and mess from the old stairway so we can add some shelves and make that a cold storage area.
sometimes they leave funny little reminders that they have been here... I found this hanging in the hallway yesterday.
just another view of the deck space and pad for the hot tub. You can't see them, but there are sewer cleanouts in the end of the pad so we can drain the hot tub easily and we also can use them to empty the trailer tanks after we go camping without goint to the dump station. Your dad is a very bright man and great at thinking ahead. I am grateful he is.
